Memorial Day Parade Participant Information

Friday, May 28th

Information:

Lineup begins at 5:00

All entries should be in place no later than 6:15

Parade Ceremony will be held in the intersection of 12th & Jackson beginning

at 6:30 with Amazing Grace and Lee Greenwood singing the National Anthem.

Parade will begin immediately following ceremony.

HOG members will line up at the 56th position located  at the parking lot under the bridge at 10th & Jones St.

Parking Personal Vehicles:

Personal vehicles not in the parade can be parked in the lower level of the Durham Museum parking lot. Route to East Entrance is East on Pacific to 7th and North to 9th and Leavenworth. Parking is also available off 10th & Pacific.

Entries that are not designated a street spot on 10th street in front of the Durham after the parade can park on Pacific St.

Lineup Information:

Please be aware that most lineup roads are not closed to regular traffic so we must leave space for traffic to move through. We are hoping that most non parade traffic will avoid the area. Keep in mind that other parade entries will need space to move into their assigned line up spot.

Go directly to your assigned block for lineup and please avoid the 12th & Jackson intersection unless your group is assigned to meet there.

Look for the orange cone with your “Entry Name & Number and stay in your area.

You can double park vehicles, just leave room to let downtown parkers out – then be prepared to move into their space.

Help other entries as they arrive to navigate to their assigned space.

Walking groups might want to consider congregating on sidewalks by their

assigned space to make room for vehicles in the street.

Lori Falcon and Teri Guhl will be moving about in a golf cart to help

participants with lineup. Dan Falcon will be stationed at the 12th & Jackson intersection to help with the groups meeting in that area. We will be wearing lime green staff shirts.

Safety Information:

The parade permit forbids the throwing of candy to avoid children running out into the street. Walkers can hand it out.

The parade permit also forbids riding on top of cars or trucks.

After the parade:

Join us for hot dogs and apple pie, courtesy of HyVee, and entertainment featuring Lee Greenwood in the upper level of the Durham Museum parking lot
immediately following the parade.

Questions regarding lineup or other parade information can be directed to Dan & Lori Falcon [email protected] or 402-669-0953.
